Dr. Saeed Ahmed
Program Director |
Dr. Saeed Ahmed, MD, MSc, is one of the founders of the Tingathe Program and a board-certified pediatrician with over ten years of experience in the comprehensive care and treatment of HIV-infected pregnant women, children, and their families. As Program Director, Saeed develops new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization and ensures delivery of the overall program and its activities in accordance with Tingathe's missions and goals. Saeed also serves as Chief of Party of the USAID-funded Technical Support to PEPFAR Programs in the Southern Africa Region (TSP) project providing technical assistance and direct service delivery to ten countries. He holds a medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine and trained in pediatrics at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. Saeed is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine.

Dr. Maria Kim
Research and Implementation Director |
Dr. Maria Kim, MD, MSc, is one of the founders of the Tingathe Program and a board-certified pediatrician with over ten years of experience in the comprehensive care and treatment of HIV-infected pregnant women, children, and their families. As Research and Implementation Director, Maria leads the development and implementation of research that seeks to generate evidence that improves health care practices in scalable and replicable ways. Maria also serves as Technical and Implementation Director of the USAID-funded Technical Support to PEPFAR Programs in the Southern Africa Region (TSP) project providing technical assistance and direct service delivery to ten countries. Maria is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine. She received a bachelor's degree summa cum laude, phi beta kappa from the University of Pennsylvania and medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She completed training in pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of New York at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center.

Phoebe Nyasulu

Phoebe Nyasulu is a development practitioner with over 25 years of experience in health-related programs and serves as Deputy Director of the Tingathe Program. Prior to her appointment as Deputy Director, Phoebe served as the Program’s Administration Director. She has previously held senior management positions at Word Alive Commission for Relief and Development and Malawi Against Physical Disabilities. Her technical expertise includes project design and management, and she has vast experience in operations management, finance and human resources. Phoebe is a member of several boards of non-governmental organizations. She holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Malawi – The Polytechnic.

Dr. Katie Simon
Medical Director |
Dr. Katie Simon is a board-certified pediatrician with over five years of experience in comprehensive care and treatment for HIV-infected pregnant women, children, and their families. As Medical Director of the Tingathe Program, Katie provides technical and managerial leadership to program activities at the national, district, and site level and liaises with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders. Katie is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and holds a medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. She trained in pediatrics at Seattle Children’s Hospital in Seattle, Washington.

Dr. Carrie Cox
Senior HIV Advisor |
Dr. Carrie Cox is a board-certified internal medicine and pediatric trained physician with over ten years of experience in clinical medicine, program and guidelines development, and operational research. She led the development and scale up of innovative adolescent health programming in Malawi and subsequently created novel programming, training and mentorship for adolescent support services, working collaboratively with the Ministry of Health. She leads in the design of tools to improve clinical mentorship and system strengthening for HIV and to facilitate task shifting counseling and follow-up services to lay cadres.

David Stobbelaar
Deputy Chief of Party |
David Stobbelaar is a management professional with ten years of senior management experience in public health and international development programs. As Deputy Chief of Party for the USAID-funded Technical Support to PEPFAR Programs in the Southern Africa Region (TSP) project, David oversees the implementation of regional USAID projects. Prior to his work with the Baylor College of Medicine, David served as the Country Representative for The Carter Center in South Sudan and Liberia. In South Sudan, he ran The Carter Center’s support for the South Sudan Guinea Worm Eradication Program and Trachoma Control Program. In Liberia, he was the focal point for The Carter Center Conflict Resolution Program’s response during the Ebola crisis. David's areas of expertise include systems development, operational management, strategic planning, financial management, budgeting, and disease surveillance. He holds a Master’s Degree in International Policy Studies from the Middlebury Institute for International Studies at Monterey (MIIS).

Rachael Manyeki
Senior Technical Advisor, Health Systems Strengthening |
Rachael Manyeki is a public health professional with over 15 years of experience implementing and managing health programs in East and southern Africa. She is well-versed in PEPFAR and USG partnerships having implemented several multi-year multi- million dollar funded programs; carving a niche in health system strengthening, quality activity implementation and overall program management. Ms. Manyeki provides high-level technical support to the USAID-funded Tingathe program at Baylor College of Medicine Children's Foundation - Malawi as a member of the Leadership team and Senior Technical Advisor for Health Systems Strengthening. She leads health systems activities including COVID-19 response and mitigation efforts. She holds a Master’s Degree in Project Planning and Management from University of Nairobi and a PMDpro Certification (UK).

Elizabeth Wetzel
Monitor and Evaluation Lead |
Elizabeth Wetzel is a public health professional with over 8 years of experience in designing data systems to support HIV programming in Malawi. As M&E Lead with Tingathe, she drives the overall M&E approach and strategy for the Tingathe Program. She oversees the M&E plan, workplan development, and budgeting for the data systems of the Tingathe Program. She has an MPH in Epidemiology from the University of Michigan. Elizabeth is passionate about creating efficient data systems to enhance healthcare service delivery interventions with the goal of decreasing health disparities globally.

Tapiwa Tembo
Scientific Investigator |
Tapiwa Tembo, MSc, is a scientist and public health expert with a background in clinical research, implementation science, research ethics, and public health programming. As a Scientific Investigator, Tapiwa leads the implementation of research aimed at improving the implementation of evidence-based interventions. Tapiwa is an MHIRST grant awardee. She has co-led several studies on malaria and HIV testing, treatment, and prevention. She also serves as a peer reviewer for scientific journals. She enjoys mentoring people, serving her community, travelling to different parts of the world, cooking and playing board games with friends and family. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree with majors in computer science and statistics (double major) from the University of Malawi and a Master of Science degree from the University of Ghana School of Public Health.

Natasha Khomba
Operations Director |
Natasha Khomba is a highly experienced professional with over 15 years of expertise in both operational and financial management. She currently serves as the Operations Director for the Tingathe CORE Program. Throughout her career, Natasha has held leadership positions with her last assignment being the Deputy Chief of Party at Feed the Children - USAID Let Them Grow Healthy Project. Her areas of expertise encompass financial stewardship, compliance, risk management, operational optimization, financial control, and program efficiency. Natasha's educational background includes a Master's in Business Administration from the Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute, an Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting from the Chartered Institute of Management Accounting (CIMA) in London, a Professional Qualification (CA) in Accounting from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in London, and a Bachelor's in Business Administration from the University of Malawi-The Polytechnic.
