Dr. Saeed Ahmed
Program Director |
Dr. Saeed Ahmed, MD, MSc, is one of the founders of the Tingathe Program and a board-certified pediatrician with over ten years of experience in the comprehensive care and treatment of HIV-infected pregnant women, children, and their families. As Program Director, Saeed develops new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization and ensures delivery of the overall program and its activities in accordance with Tingathe's missions and goals. Saeed also serves as Chief of Party of the USAID-funded Technical Support to PEPFAR Programs in the Southern Africa Region (TSP) project providing technical assistance and direct service delivery to ten countries. He holds a medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine and trained in pediatrics at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. Saeed is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine.

Dr. Maria Kim

Dr. Maria Kim, MD, MSc, is one of the founders of the Tingathe Program and a board-certified pediatrician with over ten years of experience in the comprehensive care and treatment of HIV-infected pregnant women, children, and their families. As Research and Implementation Director, Maria leads the development and implementation of research that seeks to generate evidence that improves health care practices in scalable and replicable ways. Maria also serves as Technical and Implementation Director of the USAID-funded Technical Support to PEPFAR Programs in the Southern Africa Region (TSP) project providing technical assistance and direct service delivery to ten countries. Maria is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine. She received a bachelor's degree summa cum laude, phi beta kappa from the University of Pennsylvania and medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She completed training in pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of New York at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center.

Phoebe Nyasulu

Phoebe Nyasulu is a development practitioner with over 25 years of experience in health-related programs and serves as Deputy Director of the Tingathe Program. Prior to her appointment as Deputy Director, Phoebe served as the Program’s Administration Director. She has previously held senior management positions at Word Alive Commission for Relief and Development and Malawi Against Physical Disabilities. Her technical expertise includes project design and management, and she has vast experience in operations management, finance and human resources. Phoebe is a member of several boards of non-governmental organizations. She holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Malawi – The Polytechnic.

Dr. Katie Simon
Medical Director |
Dr. Katie Simon is a board-certified pediatrician with over five years of experience in comprehensive care and treatment for HIV-infected pregnant women, children, and their families. As Medical Director of the Tingathe Program, Katie provides technical and managerial leadership to program activities at the national, district, and site level and liaises with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders. Katie is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and holds a medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. She trained in pediatrics at Seattle Children’s Hospital in Seattle, Washington.

Dr. Carrie Cox

Dr. Carrie Cox is a board-certified internal medicine and pediatric trained physician with over ten years of experience in clinical medicine, program and guidelines development, and operational research. She led the development and scale up of innovative adolescent health programming in Malawi and subsequently created novel programming, training and mentorship for adolescent support services, working collaboratively with the Ministry of Health. She leads in the design of tools to improve clinical mentorship and system strengthening for HIV and to facilitate task shifting counseling and follow-up services to lay cadres.

David Stobbelaar

David Stobbelaar is a management professional with ten years of senior management experience in public health and international development programs. As Deputy Chief of Party for the USAID-funded Technical Support to PEPFAR Programs in the Southern Africa Region (TSP) project, David oversees the implementation of regional USAID projects. Prior to his work with the Baylor College of Medicine, David served as the Country Representative for The Carter Center in South Sudan and Liberia. In South Sudan, he ran The Carter Center’s support for the South Sudan Guinea Worm Eradication Program and Trachoma Control Program. In Liberia, he was the focal point for The Carter Center Conflict Resolution Program’s response during the Ebola crisis. David's areas of expertise include systems development, operational management, strategic planning, financial management, budgeting, and disease surveillance. He holds a Master’s Degree in International Policy Studies from the Middlebury Institute for International Studies at Monterey (MIIS).

Martha Henderson

Martha Henderson has 20 years of experience in operations management, including procurement, inventory control, compliance, logistics, and supply chain management. She has worked in health and affordable housing across the United States, including for CARE, the Initiative for Affordable Housing, Providence Health and Services, and Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth. At The Carter Center, Martha served as Procurement and Logistics Officer in Kenya, supporting the Southern Sudan Guinea Worm Eradication Program, as well as Acting Finance Manager in South Sudan. As Senior Operations Officer for the Tingathe program, Martha manages its operational and financial systems.
